Job Title:  Electric Motor Rewind Technician

Duties & Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to the following:

• Disassemble, inspect, repair and assemble various types of electric motors.
• Repair/replace other damaged components of motors.
• Rewind electric motors.
• Operate equipment to perform rewinds and repairs (overhead cranes, grinders, winding machines, ovens, etc.)
• Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipment.
• Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions.
• Test rewound electro-mechanical equipment according to required Standards and document test results.
• Test windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds, and short circuits, using clearance gauge, growler, spring-steel blade, telephone receiver, insulation tester
• Wind new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors and generators.
• May rewind defective coils.
• Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
• Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non-power tools.
• Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection).
• Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
• Perform other skilled or non-skilled job related duties as directed by supervisor.
• Promote the safety culture within the company by working within all safety policies.

Education/Experience and Qualification:

• Have some sort of mechanical/electrical background and qualifications.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in electrical / mechanical repair, motor shop servicing.
• Good understanding of working and maintaining motors.
• Travel and work extended hours as required  
• Able to use bearing puller tool and induction coil for bearing replacement
• Able to perform sizing work by using measurement tools
• Able to balance the motor rotors on balancing machine
