History Book Contest

Asian Development Bank’s Azerbaijan Resident Mission (AZRM) announces the contest devoted to the ADB 50-YEAR HISTORY BOOK. The book has been published and released on 4 May 2017 during ADB’s 50th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Yokohama, Japan. The hard copy of the book is not yet available; however, its soft copy can be downloaded via this link: https://www.adb.org/publications/50-years-adb

The contest is for obtaining a short-term internship in ADB’s AZRM.

Participants are encouraged to read the ADB 50-YEAR HISTORY BOOK and required to submit an essay about the book.
An essay can have no specific topic but the entry should include knowledge gained on “How ADB contributed to the development of Asia and the Pacific over the last 50 years?”

Eligibility for ADB’s internship: university students under or post graduates at age 18-25 with Azerbaijan citizenship.

Requirements for the essay:

• Must be written in English
• 1-2 pages but no more than 1000 words
• Arial, 11 points-size font, written in MSWord
• Must be original, unpublished work
• Submission in PDF format by 12 June 2017 to [email protected]

Entries not meeting the requirements will be disqualified.

Evaluation criteria for selecting best essay/s:

- originality
- strong style, personal voice (writers may include personal examples and insights).
- compelling and captures the spirit and relevance to content of ADB 50-YEAR HISTORY BOOK

The winner/s will be awarded one month internship at ADB AZRM office, memorable plaque and the ADB 50-YEAR HISTORY BOOK with original autograph of ADB’s Senior Management.
