Role synopsis

Due to significant growth in the region, PD&MS Group are looking for a Lead Instrument & Electrical Engineer to supplement the team based in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Candidates should have previous experience in the oil and gas industry and have a proven background in Instrument & Electrical design engineering. Additionally, experience of drilling facilities and equipment along with offshore survey experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge of, and compliance with, PD&MS Group QHSE Systems.  Assurance that personnel under the Lead Engineer’s control comply with the procedures.
• Knowledge of, and compliance with, client, industry and international specifications and standards.  Assurance that personnel under the Lead Engineer’s control comply with relevant documents
• Supervision of discipline personnel and for the technical content and quality of work produced by these discipline personnel.
• Assurance of competence of engineering personnel.  Identification of personnel shortfalls and submission of proposal to Department Head for solutions such as training, coaching or replacement.
• Direction of Principal / Senior / Discipline Engineers and Designers and frequent liaison to ensure coordination between engineering and design personnel.
• Identification of scope of work required to undertake a project / job.  Estimation of deliverables, manpower and time required to execute the scope of work.
• Input to project plans and schedules.
• Early identification to Project Manager/Engineer of areas of concern during the course of any project or study with necessary corrective action identified.
• Production of cost effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both PD&MS Group and the Client.  Motivation of discipline personnel to do similarly.
• Ensuring operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design.  Seeking input from operations and maintenance personnel and, if beneficial, carrying out presentations to site personnel of changes to their installation.
• Surveys, both onshore and offshore, to determine information to allow execution of workscopes.
• Monitoring progress of work and achieving completion within the agreed schedule and budget.  Reporting progress as per PD&MS Group systems and procedures.
• Forward planning of resources and timely identification of changes to resource requirements to the Department Head
• Approval of documents created by own discipline, e.g. drawings, calculations, design reports, or on behalf of own discipline, e.g. workpacks.
• Review of documents circulated by other disciplines for IDC or comment.
• Review of Supplier / Vendor documents.
• Communication with other discipline Lead Engineers to ensure design integrity and consistency.
• Checking and approval of requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services.
• Identification of increase or reduction in scope of work and raising the necessary support documents for project control purposes.
• Attendance at meetings called by Project Manager / Engineer, e.g. kick-off meeting, progress meeting, or delegation of a deputy to attend instead.
• Attendance at Design Reviews, HAZOPs, Constructability Assessments etc. or delegation of a deputy to attend instead.
• Ensuring Discipline Engineers follow discipline procedures for document control and use and retention of check prints/IDC comments prints.
• Ensuring close-out of completed jobs in a timely manner.
• Representation of PD&MS Group with Clients and Suppliers / Vendors in a professional manner.

Essential qualifications and experience

• Beng or BSc in Electrical / Mechanical / Structural Engineering or Equivalent preferred
• HNC with 8 Years’ Experience in Design Engineering/Construction/Maintenance or Marine Environment essential
• Previous drilling facilities experience
• Offshore survey experience
• Reasonable Understanding of all Disciplines
• Thorough Understanding of Relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards
• Reasonable dexterity in the use of Software packages such as AutoCAD / MathCAD / NavisWorks and MS Office
• BOSIET
• Offshore Medical
