Introduction

The British Embassy in Azerbaijan is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for one Post Security Manager, A2, based in Baku.

You will work closely with all other Embassy teams, the Deputy Head of Mission, a Regional Overseas Security Manager and the Security Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London as well as Azeri security authorities.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of the security of the Embassy and the Ambassador’s Residence (includes liaison with emergency services, security authorities, building owners and other embassies).
• Manage, develop and train the security team to the highest possible standard and effectiveness, within budgetary constraints.
• Administer all physical security aspects including enhancement projects, monitor and maintain security equipment. Oversee the Health & Safety, Environment and Fire operation and equipment.
• Constantly examine and review all security regulations, operational procedures, techniques and requirements. Ensure that all emergency drills are carried out frequently, that staff and families are thoroughly briefed on security awareness and updated on security issues and measures. Assist in the planning and briefing for VIP visits, the PEPs and the Missions social events.
• Plan, format and despatch all security returns.
• Liaise with the local security agencies, the US Regional Security Officer, the UN/EU and other friendly missions’ security advisors and host nation police, security agencies and ministries. Assessing the threat and formulate procedures to counter any possible terrorist attacks, criminal activity or demonstrations
• Carry out duties as detailed by the Regional Overseas Security Manager.
• Review and revision of security procedures.
• Contribution to the Embassy Health & Safety responsibilities.
• Contribution to the Embassy crisis response and business continuity plans.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of working experience in similar role with strong security management background including managing human resources and leading teams in a security setting required. Experience of working for an international organisation will be highly valuated.
• Highly motivated.      
• Inter-personal, organisational and line-management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, unsupervised and as part of a team
• Experience of crisis management.
• Security training experience.
• Professional English fluency (both oral and written) and Azeri (native).
• Good understanding of security management and team leadership.
• IT skills up-to-date.
• A full, clean driving licence
• Knowledge of UK Health and Safety policies is desirable.
• Event security management experience would be an advantage.
• Key FCO competences: Leading and Communicating; Delivering Value for Money; Making Effective Decisions; Collaborating and Partnering; Building Capability; Managing a Quality Service.

Terms and Conditions

• This is a full-time position of five working days 40 hours net per week, for a permanent contract.
• The monthly salary for this position is AZN 1712.15 AZN gross per month
• Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Azerbaijan is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.
