Role synopsis 

The Equipment Quality Specialist (EQS) is primarily responsible for supporting the development & implementation of a wells integrity assurance programme in line with the BP Operating Management System (OMS) requirements, to ensure that equipment integrity, quality and operational reliability issues are fully addressed during the procurement, storage and load out activities. This includes assisting the discipline engineers in identifying the technical requirements to be applied to the wells equipment and managing the assurance process to ensure that the equipment will meet the functional and technical requirements.

Key accountabilities 

• Assist BP Specifying Engineers in the identification of critical equipment through the implementation of a formal criticality assessment exercise and develop the associated integrity management plans to manage the identified risks.
• Guide Specifying Engineers in the identification of technical, assurance and verification requirements for functional and technical specifications including applicable standards, normative documents, certification, etc.
• Review manufacturer/supplier technical and quality documents to ensure that the Wells specified requirements have been adequately addressed.
• Liaise with BP Wells teams, BP Equipment Integrity Assurance (EIA) teams, EQSs, technical experts and suppliers for the purpose of delivering EIA.
• Support the overall assurance programme to ensure that identified risks are addressed, including supplier risk reviews, design reviews, audits and verifications by inspection bodies and the project team.
• Support the development of inspection programmes that are aligned with managing the identified risks and delivering value.
• Support a third party inspection (TPI) strategy and manage TPI service providers.
• Review suppliers’ final acceptance tests (FATs) on critical components, when required.
• Mentor local in-country suppliers and contractors to help them meet BP expectations and develop robust systems that will give long term support to the Wells team.
• Train and develop national EQSs and other discipline engineers in equipment integrity assurance.

Essential Education 

Bachelor degree in Engineering

Essential experience and job requirements 

• Be a citizen of Azerbaijan
• Have minimum 5 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Be willing and able to make visits to sites, in both Azerbaijan and overseas, for meetings and the performance of assessments and audits.
• Have good knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
• Have a strong personal commitment to HSSE.
• Have good verbal and written influencing skills.
• Be able to speak, read and write English to a good standard.

Desirable criteria & qualifications 

• Have experience with the drilling, completion or intervention of oil or gas wells.
• Have experience working with mechanical and NDT inspection.
• Have ASNT NDT Certification or other NDT qualifications.
• Have experience supervising the performance of QA/QC activities and third party inspection.
• Be self-motivated and have high initiative.
• Have a capacity and willingness to continuously learn and understand technical and assurance aspects associated with mechanical equipment.
