Role synopsis 

BP Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Region (AGTR) invites qualified professionals to apply to the Marine Technical Lead. As a successful candidate you will be responsible for the provision of Marine Technical support to Logistics, Platform Operations, Drilling, Seismic and Survey Operations. This includes ensuring that Marine Risk is identified and mitigated through compliance with OMS.

Key accountabilities 

• Marine Technical Assurance as required by Element 5.6 of OMS

• Demonstrate personal HSE leadership and commitment both internally and externally

• Rig Move arrangements, to plan, co-ordinate and execute safe movement and positioning of rigs offshore, facilitating of rig move meetings

• Management of the Rig Move processes and development of Rig move procedures

• Provide technical support to all operations and projects as may be requested with the Region

• Provide competent and capable specialist marine advice and resources to the Region as required

• Establish and maintain effective communications with Logistics, Platform Operations, Drilling, Seismic and Survey Operations Drilling, Seismic and Survey Teams as well as asset groups operating Offtake Tankers, ensuring they are fully appraised with progress of marine specialist services and ensuring satisfactory support and assistance

• Ensure all BP incidents involved during rig move activities are fully investigated and any follow up actions are completed on time

• Ensure competency of all Marine consultancy contractors

• Responsible and accountable for the efficient operation and sound management of services provided by the marine team

Essential Education 

• Degree in Marine Operations OR Sailed in a senior rank afloat OR

• Has significant experience in anchor handling and towing operations

Essential experience and job requirements 

• Must have experience working on or with any of the following vessel types:

• Anchor handling tug supply

• floating offshore production facilities (FOI), mobile offshore drilling

• units (MODU), construction vessels, supply vessels, heavy lift vessels,

• survey vessels, seismic vessels or any other vessel which specifically

• supports oil & gas exploration, development or production

• Strong track record of HSSE leadership

• Strong communications skills

• Fluent in English & Azerbaijanian

• Azerbaijani citizenship is required.

Desirable criteria & qualifications 

• DP experience and/or warranty surveying Knowledge of IMCA/CMID and OCIMF/OVID processes and procedures Experience in auditing and assessments of marine operations and contractors Knowledge of risk assessment techniques

• Experience in an area of marine vessel inspection, marine suitability and vessel operations
