The project manager acts as the backbone of the entire project. It is a position of great responsibility, requiring complete and thorough technical knowledge of the construction process and also, strongest possible focus on quality. He is the leader who conceptualizes the construction project, and is responsible for its smooth organization, implementation and completion, to the satisfaction of the clients.
The incumbent is responsible for overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting, and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The construction project manager responsibilities span a broad spectrum, covering all the areas of project management like - Project Planning, Cost Management, Time Management, Quality Management, Contract Administration, and Safety Management

Job Duties and Tasks for: "Construction Project Manager"

•         Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
•         Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
•         Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
•         Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
•         Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
•         Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
•         Direct and supervise workers.
•         Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
•         Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing.

•         Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.
•         Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports
•         Develop and implement quality control programs.
•         Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
•         Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
•         Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
•         Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out
•         Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.
•         Direct acquisition of land for construction projects.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• A four-year Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. A postgraduate degree in construction management is an added advantage.


• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction projects.


• Excellent communication skills.


• Good understanding of MEP building systems.


• Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards is essential.
