As a Sales Director in a retail chain of building and construction materials with an online store, your responsibilities would include the following:

  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets. This includes identifying market opportunities, analyzing customer needs, and creating plans to effectively penetrate the market.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage the sales team, including hiring, training, and coaching sales representatives. Set clear sales objectives, monitor performance, and provide feedback and guidance to ensure the team's success.
  • Sales Planning and Forecasting: Develop sales plans and forecasts based on market trends, customer demand, and product availability. Monitor and analyze sales data to identify areas for improvement and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Foster and maintain relationships with key customers, builders, contractors, and other stakeholders in the construction industry. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication, timely response to inquiries, and resolution of issues.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the customer base and increase sales. This includes exploring partnerships, strategic alliances, and joint ventures to drive business growth.
  • Sales Performance Analysis: Track sales performance against targets and key performance indicators (KPIs). Analyze sales data and market trends to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. Develop action plans to address any gaps and improve overall sales performance.
  • Product and Market Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest trends, innovations, and regulations in the building and construction materials industry. Develop a deep understanding of the company's product offerings and their unique selling points to effectively communicate value to customers.
  • Online Sales Management: Oversee the online sales channel, including the company's e-commerce platform. Collaborate with the marketing team to optimize online product listings, enhance the user experience, and drive online sales growth.
  • Pricing and Discount Management: Work closely with the pricing team to develop pricing strategies that are competitive and align with market conditions. Monitor pricing levels and discounts to ensure profitability while remaining competitive in the market.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, operations, logistics, and finance to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of sales efforts. Provide input on product assortment, inventory management, marketing campaigns, and other areas that impact sales performance.
  • Sales Reporting and Presentations: Prepare regular sales reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key sales metrics, trends, and strategic recommendations. Communicate the sales team's achievements, challenges, and future plans to stakeholders within the organization.
