Lab Technician (Online Analyzers - QMI)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares chemical reagents, solutions and working standards in accordance with laboratory work instructions;
  • Job Holder is custodian for various quality measuring instruments (QMIs) at site and responsible for Instrument is fit-for-purpose; 
  • Executes the Custodian responsibilities for various online instruments with primary maintenance activities and will perform full investigation of broken of non-function equipment before escalating the issues to Instrument Specialist team or supervisors;
  • Monitors and verifies condition of assigned instruments, performs necessary calibration and performance verification of analytical methods to ensure reliability of site analysis, as specified on Work Instructions, Procedures, or maintenance plan;
  • Maintains effective day-to-day communication with Laboratory management for all site activities for QMIs;
  • Reads, understands, and updates Chemical Laboratories’ documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, analytical equipment’s operations manuals, etc., related to laboratory operations;
  • Systematically registers received samples in LIMS, monitors the trend for between offline and online analyzers following QA/QC compliance requirements;
  • Develop procedures, work instructions, programs, or any specific activities report or dedicated instruction that are related to QMIs;
  • Registers, enters, reports the results of QMI samples in LIMS;
  • Performs investigation of Out of Specification results and implements the corrective and preventive measures under supervision;
  • Participates in maintenance activities of QMIs in accordance with laboratory work instructions, verification, calibration and maintenance plans;
  • Keeps inventory management update in LIMS the stock balance, correctly registering the consumption or receives of chemicals, spares, glassware, standard mixtures;
  • Reports to supervisor updated information on status of instruments/equipment’s and timely communicate any instrument failure or eventual shortage of spares parts, consumable, reagents;
  • Is responsible for adequate use of tools and glassware, handle samples and QMIs;
  • Perform routine monitoring of sample handling systems and gas cylinder replacements;
  • Maintain calibration gases for analyzers to ensure accuracy of online measurements;
  • Maintain spare part list for analyzers;
  • Implement preventative maintenance and diagnostic procedures based on vendor technical information and manufacturer's specifications;
  • Manage internal verification of Online Analyzers (SQC);
  • Track and update assigned tasks as per maintenance schedule on a regular basis;
  • Monitors all calibration status of the dedicated lab instruments and report status periodically to lab specialist;
  • Comply with all company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices;
  • Report to Laboratory Supervisor and QMI Specialist.

Requirements:

  • Vocational education in Chemistry, Electrical, Instrument or Mechanical field;
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the areas of QMI maintenance and assurance, instrumentation engineering, laboratory, process control and automation, design, troubleshooting, maintenance, or assurance in a manufacturing environment;
  • A minimum of 1 year of process analyzer experience required working with different kinds of Online analyzers;
  • Experienced in the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of online process analyzers;
  • Strong knowledge on preventive and corrective maintenance of online analyzer;
  • Knowledge on mechanical and electrical functions of the online analyzers;
  • Good working knowledge of Chemicals, gases and risks;
  • Microsoft Office knowledge;
  • Ability to read instrument documents such as schematics, specifications, P&IDs and one-line diagrams;
  • Ability to diagnose the cause of malfunction, or failure, of analyzers and perform the necessary preventable maintenance or corrective maintenance.
