Role synopsis 

The Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist reports to the Azerbaijan Georgia Turkey Region (AGTR) Operations and Wells H&S Specialists Team Leader in the AGTR Operations and Wells Health & Safety Organization. The Health & Safety Specialist is the onshore based focal point for H&S systems and processes common to all offshore Operations and Wells and onshore where common processes exist across the region. They are responsible to drive consistency, effectiveness, assurance and continuous improvement in the identified H&S management systems and processes and are accountable for setting strategic direction, promoting best practice and providing authoritative advice and guidance regarding the identified systems and processes.

Key accountabilities

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing health and safety specialist expertise and authoritative advice to offshore/onshore Operations and Wells, leading the research and peer group involvement to ensure a comprehensive response;
• Implement and maintain offshore common safety systems and processes with regard to the planning of work, hazard identification, risk assessment and risk reduction measures to allow work to be completed safely without injury to persons, plant or the environment in compliance with BP Group standards and guidance, Operation Management System and AGTR Document Management process including identifying opportunities for continuous improvement;
• Act as HSE Tag for identified contractors developing, maintaining and managing the relevant Health Safety Environment (HSE) Bridging documents and HSE Plans including participating in the relevant H&S Management System audit process including managing the closure of any resulting findings and/or actions;
• Under the direction of the Control of Work (CoW)/Safety Systems Lead provide HSE assurance on identified processes and procedures;
• Under direction of AGTR Operations and Wells Director act as an HSE Incident Investigator; Participating in Incident Investigations as a Root Cause Specialist to determine Immediate and System Causes and develop Corrective Actions (e.g. Hi Potential Incident, Days Away From Work Case);
• Participate in the Operations and Wells CoW Lessons Learned process conducting regular reviews and implementing resulting actions from the process

Essential Education

• University Degree

Essential experience and job requirements

• The role requires a minimum of 10 years experience in HSE in both operational and administrative roles or a combination of offshore and onshore roles
• Demonstrable knowledge of CoW, personal and process safety
• Thorough knowledge and experience of implementing HSE Policies, Standards, Practices and Guidelines
• Incident investigation experience
